Carbonated milk!
Notes: the warnings on the gizmo say not to do this, but I knew they were kidding.  What happens is that about 50% of the total volume explodes all over the place, and the resulting milk tastes somewhat sour because of the carbonic acid.  It also goes flat very quickly….maybe one minute?  But in the meantime, it is a weird, weird experience.

We’ve been using this sieve to steep coffee and tea for years.  It probably wasn’t designed with this in mind, but the ribs on the outside of the mesh cause a tiny stand-off from the rim of the jar, allowing the coffee to flow along the outside of the mesh without breaking surface tension and spilling when they reach the glass.  It’s surprisingly effective.

S got me a carbonating machine for my birthday.  I will now carbonate all the liquids.
So far: random sodas, fruit juice, cider…

Making several very simple kubb sets.  Kubb, or “Viking Bocce” is a Swedish version of skittles that I was introduced to at NBTSC, complete with a climactic showdown and blood sacrifice.  Ahem.  It isn’t actually a Viking game; it’s probably less than 100 years old in the current version.  But it’s a very fun game.
The pumpkin carvings are thanks to Jacob and Jamie, who stayed at our place while I was at camp and S was in California.

Some Intentions for this Tumblr

I plan to use this Tumblr both as a mesoblog and, if possible, as my primary platform for online social networking. In other words, I want to use the Tumblr both as a blog and as a Facebook page. We’ll see how that goes. Here are my general intentions:

Examples of good and bad design.
Links to online tools that I consider socially transformative or technically interesting.
Links to my own projects.
No more than 1/3 reblogs.
No long articles (those will go on the blog blog).
What-I-am-doing updates at least once a week.
Whatever else I find cool.

I will respond to any comments posted here (in open format), or you can email me at trelevenfarm@gmail.com.

A (partial) breakdown of the songs I listened to on my laptop in the early summer of 2011.  I am a pretty obsessive song-listener: Frankie once threatened to beat me to death with a hammer unless I stopped playing I Left My Wallet in El Segundo on repeat.  As you can see, the songs I am obsessed with are towards the upper left; where I am obsessed with artists or albums, they re towards the upper right.  Both axes are logarithmic.
